DIFI’s 2022 will be the year of adoption and expansion.

  • Adoption:
    • Mature the 1.0 specification with at least two minor releases of the specification that cleans up and address deficiencies in the specification.
      • Stabilize and re-publish the initial standard for baseline acceptance NLT on June 30, 2022
      • Establish a features roadmap that will be regularly updated
  • Drive adoption of the standard:
    • Certification:
      • Open-source the DIFI certification software by May 31, 2022
      • Five companies with DIFI self-certified products available for demonstration
        • Demonstrate two independent vendors interoperating using the DIFI standard
      • Established a 3rdparty certification process NLT September 30, 2022
        • Have first certified product by December 31, 2022
      • Commercial adoption:
        • Two global GEO satellite operators
        • One regional GEO satellite operators
        • Three LEO Ground System as a Service operators
      • Government:
        • 100% U.S. DOD acceptance with deployment beginning in 2022 and accelerating annually
  • Expansion:
    • Membership:
      • >50 members
    • Enhance interoperability enabling digital transformation by addressing supplemental and additional scope, as required
